bio
Lucy Wellmaker has a Master’s Degree in Counseling from
the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is a
graduate of the Institute of Life Coach Training and a
member of the International Coaching Federation. Lucy
not only has a passion for working with people who want
to improve their lives, she has the skills and the
expertise to help them do it.
Her interest in helping others began with
an interest in her own personal growth. Since her high
school days Lucy has consistently attended retreats,
workshops and seminars to better understand herself and
others. She has had the opportunity to be instructed by
some great leaders including Cheryl Richardson, Dr.
Wayne Dyer and even Oprah on her “Live Your Best Life”
Tour.
She remembers vividly driving down the
road one day, by herself, and yelling out, “I love my
life!” The thought that immediately followed was, “And,
I created it to be this way.” That was a pivotal moment
in her life. Although she had said those words many
times before, something clicked that day that helped her
understand the responsibility she had with the way her
life was – the good days and the bad. Soon after, she
had the desire to help others improve their situations
and create the life they love.
Lucy has a strong faith and when she
refers to what she “creates” in her life, it is always
with the understanding that she is “co-creating”. To
illustrate this point, she reflects on a story of a man
who let his yard go. The shrubs were overgrown, the
grass was knee high and weeds were everywhere. One day
the man decided to take action and clean his yard up.
After working hard all day he sat down to rest. About
that time a neighbor walked by and said to the man,
“With the help of God, look at what you were able to
do!” The man replied, “You must have seen my yard when
God had it all by Himself.”
Taking action is key and Lucy doesn’t ask
her clients to do anything she isn’t willing to do
herself. This keeps her on her toes and forces her to be
at her best for herself and her clients. “My clients are
usually one step ahead or one step behind me,” she says.
“I end up teaching what I need to learn, giving and
receiving in the same moment. It’s an amazing experience
to connect with people on a deep level and I’m always
honored to be a part of their journey.”
