In recognition of National Life Coach Week, I would like to share the details of a wonderful seminar, Wisdom of Women, or Wow, conducted by Lucy Wellmaker, and my experience working with her.

Lucy is a woman of wisdom, and she is sharing her knowledge with her fellow parishioners of Saint Pius X in Greensboro.

She holds a master's degree in counseling from UNCG and is a life coach who provides guidance to help people create a life they love.

As a member of the group that began in September, I have come to experience what Lucy refers to as "wow moments," discovering wisdom revealed to me through reflection and exploration of the topics presented in her workshop, Wisdom of Women -- Wow.

Each session focuses on a topic that stimulates a discussion which encourages us to share the challenges and solutions we experience in our lives.

Lucy listens intently as we reveal our feelings based on reactions to subjects such as "Choose wisely" and "Wisdom in relationships."

Her sensitivity to our human spirit helps guide us through the emotions and concerns we express, reminding us to be gentle with ourselves as we go though the journey to self discovery.

We are treated to weekly messages which reinforce the action plans we take away from our sessions.

I have been compelled on several occasions to respond to Lucy telling her how I was able to see more clearly the wisdom I needed to accomplish a certain task, or relax and let go of something that was not really significant to me and the others in my life.

I truly feel that connecting to these "wow moments" is leading me toward finding the way to live my life as God intended. Thank you to Lucy and the other women in my group for helping me with this.

"With her quiet, non-judgmental manner, Lucy always seems to ask the right questions. She has the ability to bring out the personal stories that people have, and allows them to confront fears/worries without being negative. Lucy is definitely a "Well Maker."

--a former 'victim' who now observes her own behavior, thanks to Lucy.

"Prior to coaching, I don't think I was giving any of my time or energy to figuring out what I needed - I was just reacting to my everyday circumstances."
